The questions people actually ask before booking, answered plainly.
- How long does the whole evening take?
- About 5 hours from check-in to being back at the pier. Departure is 5:30 PM and you should arrive 45 minutes before that.
- Where does it leave from?
- There are two departure points, Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta, both at 5:30 PM. The boat sails monday to saturday — there is no Sunday departure, and it does not run on New Year’s Day. You pick a point when you book and they are not interchangeable. Full check-in guide.
- Is dinner before or after the show?
- Before. On the 5:30 PM departure you eat first, then watch ALMA. What is served.
- What is the minimum age?
- 6. Children are 6–11 and pay a child price; from 12 it is the adult price.
- Are there extra fees?
- Yes, one. A port access fee of $20 per adult and $10 per child is collected at the pier by the operator. It is not included in the price you pay us, so bring a card or cash.
- Is it suitable for someone with limited mobility?
- The operator lists it as not recommended for guests with limited mobility. The site is natural ground — sand, stone, steps and slopes — walked in low light, and no ticket tier changes that. More about the site.
- What should I wear?
- Flat shoes with grip, and a light layer for the boat year round. Full clothing guide.
- What happens if it rains?
- It runs year round and the show is outdoors. Light rain does not usually stop it. If the operator cancels for weather we will contact you to rebook or refund you in full.
- Are drinks included?
- Yes. Wine and an open bar are included in every package, starting on the crossing out. Premier adds champagne and a wine pairing with dinner.
- Can I take photos?
- Around the site, yes. During the performance there are restrictions and the staff will tell you what is allowed on the night.
- How does booking on this site work?
- You choose a date, package and party size and pay online. That creates a reservation request, not a confirmed seat. We then verify your date and contact you within 30 minutes during our hours (Monday to Saturday, 7 am – 7:45 pm Puerto Vallarta time), or first thing the next morning we are open.
- What if my date is full?
- We will call you with alternative dates or refund you in full — your choice. You are never left holding a booking we cannot fulfil.
- How long is the boat ride to Las Caletas?
- Las Caletas is on the southern shore of Banderas Bay, past Boca de Tomatlán, and there is no road to it. Allow roughly an hour each way depending on your departure point and conditions. The crossing out is at sunset; the return is in the dark. More about the location.
- Which departure point should I choose?
- The one closer to where you are staying, not the one closer to the cove — both leave at 5:30 PM and arrive the same evening. Puerto Vallarta suits the Romantic Zone, downtown and the hotel zone; Nuevo Vallarta suits Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías and Punta Mita. Crossing between them in late-afternoon traffic is the mistake to avoid.
- Is the alcohol really included?

- Can I leave early if I am not enjoying it?
- No, and this is worth understanding before you book. Everyone arrives and leaves on the same boat because there is no road to Las Caletas. If you are prone to seasickness or dislike fixed schedules, factor that in.
- Do I need to speak Spanish?
- No. ALMA is movement, music and staging with no dialogue to follow, and the crew work with international guests every night.
- Is it worth the money?
- That depends entirely on whether you are buying a dinner and a show, or an evening somewhere you could not otherwise go. We have written the honest version, including who should skip it, on is it worth it.
- Which ticket should I buy?
- Classic for most people — every tier sees the same show in the same place. VIP if you dislike queueing, since boarding order decides where you end up sitting. Premier only if the meal itself is the reason. Full comparison.
- Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
- Usually, with notice. Tell us when you book and we will pass it to the operator. Everything served at Las Caletas arrives by boat, so there is no adjusting at the table — the earlier we know, the better the answer.
- How far in advance should I book?
- There is one departure a night and it does sell out, particularly in high season and around holidays. If your dates are fixed, book as early as you can; if they are flexible, we can check more than one date for you.
- Can I get a refund or change my date?
- If we cannot confirm the date you requested, you choose between an alternative date and a full refund. Once purchased, no cancellations or refunds are provided. We will however do what we can do to provide an alternative date.
